CAMPFIRE

PURPOSE

To discover techniques for grabbing -- and increasing -- the attention of your audience.

OVERVIEW

A storyteller practices drawing the audience closer and closer.

TEXT

At least a 47 second speech.

Campfire

This game requires a little set up: a chair for every participant, and something to represent a campfire. (Backpack? Parka? Collection of water bottles?  Be creative.)

Place a chair for each audience member on one side of the fire, and a single chair for the speaker on the other.

Okay, Speaker, you begin here, in front of the Fire.

Audience, you begin back here.

If the Speaker says or does something that draws you in, step forward.

If the Speaker says or does something that draws you in again, you take a seat by the Fire.

If the Speaker says or does something that draws you in AGAIN, you gesture for the speaker to sit by the Fire.

Speaker, your challenge is to get  them sitting by the fire and then be invited to join them.
